OH YEAH BABY THE ATTITUDE ERA Photo Credit: WWE.com Oh, welcome back all you readers, or should I say NEWS FIENDS. I am HORB FLERBMINBER, and this newsletter is the MOST TRUSTED SOURCE FOR WRESTLING NEWS ON THE INTERNET, nay, ANYWHERE ON PLANET EARTH. I would be the most trusted news source for wrestling on Gamma Prime in the Andromeda Galaxy, but Dave Meltzer SLANDERED ME with accusations of simony and institutional malfeasance he got from a MySpace account. HE'S BRANCHING OUT, PEOPLE. Honestly, if you just want to read the newsletter, that's okay I guess, but don't even THINK about looking me in the eye in public if you don't go WHOLE HORB. What does that mean? Well, you should definitely follow me on Twitter, @ HorbFlerbminber . Where else can you get up to the NANOSECOND news updates? Certainly not from following that hack Rajah. DID YOU KNOW HIS NEWS WAS WRONG 69 PERCENT OF THE TIME? That is certainly not nice. Also, you should definitely buy back issues of my news...

WWE Has Fired Enzo Amore

Image
Bye, Felipe Photo Credit: WWE.com A day after announcing his indefinite suspension over accusations and a police investigation of rape, WWE has released Enzo Amore, real name Eric Arndt. The move came as a surprise when it first broke, but later on, news came out that WWE made the move to release him after finding out he'd been under investigation since October and didn't tell the company about it until news broke on Monday. As a refresher, Arndt is accused of drugging and raping his alleged victim, and is currently under investigation by police in Arizona. Many people have come out and applauded WWE's actions and used them as a cudgel to beat back indie promotions who have dealt with similar situations and acted slowly or not at all. While companies that either continue to book Michael Elgin, Bram, or other known abusers and rapists do deserve criticism, please do not mistake WWE's actions for pragmatism. As a publicly traded corporation with crossover aspirations, WW...

#MeToo in the Wrestling Industry

Image
Arndt is in hot water, and the fact that he might escape justice altogether is an indictment of society Photo Credit: WWE.com The biggest news of the day yesterday was that a woman filed charges against Enzo Amore in Arizona. She took to Twitter to detail an account of drugging and sexual assault by Amore, real name Eric Arndt, facilitated by clothing designers Tyler Grosso and TOOPOOR. The linked tweet carries a content warning for sexual assault. The accuser is not the only one who has claim against Arndt, as she posted a screenshot from another person whom Arndt has allegedly assaulted. WWE took swift action and suspended Arndt yesterday. The suspension will be in effect until the case is either formally dismissed or he's found guilty, at which time he'll be reinstated or released respectively. I have no doubt that Arndt is guilty, but the legal system underserves sexual assault victims to a disgusting degree that it could end in a dismissal or an acquittal. Even in this a...

ARE YOU READY FOR WRESTLEKINGDOM? Photo Credit: Scott Finkelstein HAPPY NEW YEAR, HORBIACS. New year, but SAME OL' HORB FLERBMINBER, back at you mining them scoops like they need to be mined. CONTRARY TO RUMORS SPREAD ONLINE, I didn't take the last two weeks of the year off. It's just NEWS DIDN'T HAPPEN. It's true, sometimes, the world stops, especially when I'm off attempting to break the world record of cans of Hamm's beer drunk in one sitting. Did you know Andre the Giant set the record back in 1978 and every year I try and fail to break it? THAT SON OF A BITCH COULD PUT THE BREW AWAY. Anyway, if you want the partial Horb experience, then by all means, JUST READ THE NEWSLETTER. However, if you want it all and you want it NOW, then follow me on Twitter Dot Com, @HorbFlerbminber . You'll know when and where I post screenshots of The Iron Sheik posting antisemitic rants before deleting them. If you guess which ones are doctored and which ones are real, y...

Year End Sorting Bins: Well, Sure, Maybe, I Guess, Perhaps

Image
He can do good shit, but man, Ospreay just is a turnoff otherwise Photo Credit: NJPW website The next category in the sorting bins is "Begrudging Toleration." These wrestlers are as the bin name says, those I tolerate. I don't actively hate them like I do in the other category, but if they're on screen, well, I'm probably going for the other person. Additionally, this and the next two boxes will not have writeups for everyone, because do you want me to be here the rest of the year just writing this one up? Without further ado... Will Ospreay - The shame part is that Ospreay is a pretty good performer, great sometimes. Every time I see him in the ring, it's like I'm watching the future of wrestling unfold in front of my eyes. That being said, the dude faves racist tweets, bitches and moans about people stealing moves that he borrowed three degrees from the original, and is notoriously bad at Twitter. Every time I wanna feel good about watching him, he give...

205 Live Is Going on the Road

Image
Coming to an arena in the Northeast near you, Swann and the gang! Photo Credit: WWE.com WWE has four distinct touring entities: RAW, Smackdown, NXT National, and NXT Florida loop. It will soon have a fifth, at least in a limited capacity. Monday, WWE announced via Dot Com that  205 Live will go on the road in January , the weekend before the Royal Rumble. The cruiserweights will hit up the Northeast in three moderate-sized locales: Kingston, RI, Lowell, MA, and Poughkeepsie, NY. Tickets go on sale this Friday. Right now, the tour is being framed as a limited-run of special events. My guess is if it's popular, then, 205 Live will be a touring brand on its own. I have mixed feelings about this news, as the stratification of weight classes in wrestling is one of my most passionate bugaboos. I was hoping that WWE was winding down on the cruiserweight experiment and allowing guys like Cedric Alexander, Akira Tozawa, and Rich Swann to transcend weight limits and compete in the main narra...
